RIO + JANE
I started a fashion illustration blog in 2011 as a new year's resolution. I wanted to begin a simple hobby that would be easy to upkeep and be a creative outlet outside of work. Rio and Jane features a couple of 'thumbprints' modelling their favorite fashion-inspired 'thumbfits.' Each girl, having her own distinct personality and fashion style, is a reflection of the things I love.
Initial ideas were to do simple thumbprint illustrations of basically anything. But as you can see by the evolution below, my love for fashion organically guided me to what the theme of my blog should be.
A trio of girls was narrowed down to a pair, to mirror the way I would describe my own personal style. On one hand I am inspired by the graceful and classic styles of Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O but love the sexiness of the likes of Kerry Washington and Selena Gomez.
MEET THE GIRLS: Rio
No, Rio is not named after the Las Vegas hotel. Her dad really wanted a son, but had to make due with her. He named her a boy's name anyways, a name meaning river. Jane constantly has to remind her that she is NOT Kim Kardashian. "Whatever," responds Rio. Rio loves anything flirty and sexy, but always makes sure to keep it classy.

MEET THE GIRLS: JANE
Jane was born a few decades too late. Jackie O and Audrey Hepburn are her favorite fashion icons. She loves anything feminine and pretty, which can be the root cause of her massive collection of embellished cardigans that would make a rainbow embarrassed of its incomparable selection of colors. She reads J.Crew and Anthropologie catalogs religiously and has a weakness for colorful jewelry.
